This mug explains the Japanese proverb “Kateba Kangun makereba Zokugun”.

The translation of the above saying is “If you win, the government army If you lose, the thief army”.

The meaning is as follows.

Commentary

“Kangun” is the army of the imperial court. “Zokugun” is an army that is hostile to the imperial court. Those are the words that were born during the Meiji Restoration in Japan.
